Angola: Bengo - Kissomeira Cooperative Harvests Over 50,000 Tons of Maize

Caxito — More than 50,000 tons of maize were harvested by the Kissomeira Cooperative in the municipality of Dande, northern Bengo province, during the 2014/2015 agricultural season.

 
The information was released Thursday in Caxito, the capital of Bengo province, by the head of the local Department of the National Institute of Cereals, Laurindo José.
 
Speaking to Angop, in Caxito, the official said that as compared to the previous year, there has been a decrease of 29,000 tons , due to lack of rainfalls in the region.
 
On the occasion, Laurindo José urged farmers in the six municipalities of the province to continue to invest in growing cereals for sale and their self-sustaining.
 
The Department of the National Institute of Cereals in Bengo currently controls three cooperatives, namely Kissomeira and Muculo in the municipality of Dande, and Kissangala in Nambuangongo.
